Parent Expectations
Sportsmanship – Children learn by example. Sportsmanship starts with parents. Please remember that all coaches and board members are volunteers. We all make mistakes from time to time. Harassment of coaches, officials or other teams during practices or games will not be tolerated.
Communication – Let Coaches know about any illness or difficulties your child has. Also, let coaches know if your child is struggling with grades. Keeping open lines of communication is important to the success of our program; however, please do not address these concerns during practices or games.
Respect – Allow coaches to teach their players without interruptions. It is very difficult for coaches to instruct their players if parents are standing on the sidelines also giving instructions, which may not be in keeping with the coach’s methods. Coaches always have the players’ best interests at heart. If parents have questions or problems, please allow the coaches the courtesy of addressing these after practices or games.
Player Expectations
Grades – It is important for our players to be good students as well as good sports. If you are having trouble, let your coach know.
Attention – Coaches need to have each player’s full attention during practices and games. Coaches are trying to teach the game of football; they are also volunteers, so please come to practices prepared to learn.
Team Loyalty – There is no “I” in TEAM. Be loyal to your teammates, your coaches and the Rocket Football Organization. Remember, when you are wearing your jersey, you represent the entire Rocket Football program. Please do not embarrass yourselves or the program by acting inappropriately.
Respect – Respect coaches by calling them by their appropriate title “Coach Smith.” Respect all teammates. Remember, criticism hurts and no one is perfect. Keep in mind that all players want to have fun and winning isn’t everything – sportsmanship is.
Participation – Come every day prepared to do your best. Participate in all practices and drills – you will learn new things every day, so it is important that you attend ALL practices. Let your coaches know if you need a ride and let them know in advance if you will be missing practice.
Other Needs
Team Parent – The Team Mom Coordinator will be seeking moms or dads to serve as Team Parent. The Team Parent is responsible for contacting parents to be sure snacks and drinks are provided after each game.
Concession Stand – The concession stand is a major fund-raiser for our program; parents will be contacted to provide supplies for the concession stand at the beginning of the season.
Conclusion
Let’s set the standard for teamwork and show pride in our Big Rapids Cardinal Rocket Football Program. If we all work together, we can make this our best season ever! |
